Orchid Planting & Care Instructions
Planting Your Orchid
Plant your orchid using a suitable orchid bark mix, as you normally would. We recommend placing approximately 1 inch (2–3 cm) of bark at the bottom of the vessel, positioning the orchid, and then adding additional substrate around the plant while ensuring that some roots remain partially exposed to light. For a more expressive display, you may arrange several smaller orchids within a single Freyven vessel to create a unique composition.
Watering
To hydrate your orchid, place the vessel under a gentle stream of lukewarm water for a few seconds until the substrate is fully saturated. This method reflects the orchid’s natural environment, where rainwater flows freely over the trees on which orchids naturally grow. Set the vessel aside in a sink and allow it to drain for several minutes. As the roots absorb moisture, they will turn a vibrant green, indicating that they are fully hydrated. Ensure excess water drains completely through the base so the roots remain balanced and never oversaturated.
After Watering
Carefully dry the exterior base with a paper towel or soft cloth to protect surrounding surfaces. Place the vessel in a suitable location where your orchid will receive adequate natural light to thrive. For additional protection, especially on moisture-sensitive surfaces, we recommend using a discreet tray or coaster beneath the vessel.
